MY QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
35 years in global education and leadership development
My career in schools and education took me all over the world.
I started leadership training over twenty years ago, designing and running community-based service learning programmes for Global Leadership Adventures and high schools in the US and UK. Based both at home and in communities in South Africa, Tanzania and India, our programmes introduced young people to exceptional leaders in government, NGOs, local communities and business.
Through workshops and practical challenges we helped our students break down what it takes to be a great leader, and to consider what kind of leaders they wanted to be. It’s a huge pleasure now to watch so many of them lead in their own right.
What we need from our leaders continues to evolve. The 2025 Global Leadership Report: What Followers Want confirms that followers overwhelmingly, across 52 countries, need a sense of hope from their leaders. Trust comes second, followed by compassion and stability. We are asking more than ever before from those who lead us, and we need them now more than ever.
I am passionate about helping leaders intentionally build the strengths, skills and awareness they need to inspire hope and trust in those they lead. It takes time and commitment, but there are few better ways to make a difference in the world.
It is a privilege for me to work with founders and young and developing leaders in organisations such as The Obama Foundation, World Vision International, the International Organisation for Migration and Ella’s Kitchen. I also offer pro bono coaching via the Humanitarian Coaching Network, Refugee Jump Start Coaching and the ICF Foundation.
